FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 13, 2011
(LOS ANGELES, CA) – VeeV Acai Spirit and SKYBAR present the Los Angeles Release Party for Deborah Cloyed’s The Summer We Came to Life (MIRA Books/Harlequin), with a percentage of sales going to the City of Los Angeles’ “Charity of the Year” – WriteGirl – empowering young female writers through mentorship and self-expression.
This event is supported by the Happy Hours Girls Club, West Clovernook Society, and The Butterfly Project, with many of Los Angeles’ hottest powerhouse ladies representing The Casting Firm, BCBG, Guess, Green Denim Initiative, and Awake Living in attendance. WriteGirl will be honoring their 40+ volunteer writing mentors, and the night will offer complimentary themed cocktails and a performance by DJ Lady Splash.
This is girl power at its best! All these women belong to a network that touches every aspect of the arts community – designers, jewelry, fashion, music, PR, health, and publishing. They’ve come together to support one of their own – the release of Deborah Cloyed’s debut novel, The Summer We Came to Life.
“Cloyed’s novel is a surprising and ambitious debut novel that subverts expectations, ingeniously turning a resonant story of friendships rocked by a tragic accident into an even-more-resonant meditation on alternate realities and the nature of death.”
